Born in Bronx, New York, he grew up in Templeville, MD, graduating at the top of his class from Greensboro High School in 1935. He then lived in Akron for most of his life.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Carolee Weigand for her love and support, and Dr. Mark Smith and Dr. Roger Chaffee for their care of Truman.
