Donald Gordon Jewitt, 80 Donald Gordon Jewitt, 80, of Media died on October 28, 2014 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Dona Mae (Smith) Jewitt. Born in Philadelphia on 7/13/1934 to the late Wilfred W. Jewitt and the late Emma Hassel Jewitt. He graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1952. He graduated from Ursinus College in 1956 with a B.A. in History and a minor in Economics and Political Science. He was a member of the Alpha Phi Epsilon fraternity and the Pi Gamma Mu National Honors Society for Social Sciences. In 1959, he graduated from Villanova Law School where he served on the Editorial Board of the Law Review and as a member of Certiorari Law Club. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar Association in 1960. After Law School he served in private practice for two years and then for 36 years at the Insurance Company of North America/Cigna Corporation; retiring in 1996 after as the Vice President of Claims Management. He was an avid reader and history buff. He was a sports enthusiast and a dedicated Philadelphia sports fan. For many years he coached Nether Providence Club Soccer. Since his childhood he enjoyed spending time in Ocean City, NJ. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children Jeffery S. Jewitt, Gregory S. Jewitt (Mary), Robyn L. Jewitt and Bradley S. Jewitt (Cheryl), and three grand children; Matthew, Kevin and Hunter. He was preceded in death by his brother James W. Jewitt. A funeral service will be held on 11/1/2014 at 10:00 at Christ Church, 311 S. Orange St., Media, PA. A private burial will follow the service. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Frank C. Videon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Villanova School of Law, Office of Development, 299 North Spring Mill Road, Villanova, PA 19085.

It was my pleasure to work with Don when he was Vice President, Claim Management Division, Insurance Company of North America in Philadelphia, later known as CIGNA. His honesty, integrity, and knowledge of the law set a fine example for everyone in the Bond Claim Department. His fine sense of humor, and knowledge of baseball made for an excellent work environment.
