Aunt Bette, Alicia, John, Lynne, Tom and Gary -- I'm sure you all know by now how much Uncle John was loved by all who knew him. His loss creates a large void that will be tough to fill. I remember sometimes working on a job with him and my father when I was in high school and listening to his stories. Now as I tackle the occasional project around my house, I wish that more of their talents had rubbed off on me. Oh well, that's a goal to strive for.

To the entire Brophy family, I offer my love and prayers at this time!!! I loved seeing Mr Brophy, when Lynn and I would be at their house, and also on shopping adventure...I loved his wit and humor, and more so, I loved his kind and caring heart...he witnessed my Mother and brother get in an accident many years ago, and he stayed with them and calmed my Mom down, he would not leave her side until I got there to take my family home.
God Bless you all, my love, prayers and comfort to you now and always!!
PS, Lynn, I miss you, make sure you take care of yourself!!

When I first started work at Bell of Pa. in 1974 John Brophy always was so warm and friendly to me. He would have a son at his side and would always make me laugh. This continued for many years and many different job locations. It was a pleasure to have known him and his sons. He was so well liked. I'm sure he's having some laughs up in heaven with my Dad, Al Horn. God bless all the Brophy family during this time, it is difficult. We were blessed to have such wonderful fathers from the 'Greatest Generation'.

Like my sister Marie, I too baby sat for the Brophy children. I remember one time I fell asleep and did not wake up when Mr. and Mrs. Brophy returned home even after they banged on the door. Mr. Brophy had to climb through the kitchen window to get into the house. He was a good sport and laughed it off.
I will never forget sitting on the corner of Clearbrook Avenue & Garrett Road after a Flyers victory. We drank Champagne and laughed most of the night.
Always a nice man and a part of our family in so many ways. He will be missed.

When I babysat for the Brophy kids as a young teenage girl, I thought Mr. Brophy so handsome and a very, very nice man; always a genuinely happy person. I'm sure all of you will miss him dearly. My heartfelt condolences to all but especially to you, Mrs. Brophy, for the loss of your lifetime love.

Mrs. Brophy, Mary Alicia, Lynne, Johnny, Tommy and Gary please accept our sincere condolences on the death of your husband and father. Mr. Brophy was a great guy to have around the old neighborhood. We'll never forget how he was always upbeat and funny. He was my first employer growing up. I felt I could always confide in him. We had a lot of interesting conversations in that old green truck of his.

May God grant him a seat next Yuppo Willie in heaven.

Sincerely,

Bill and Madeleine Tierney

Having been a neighbor & friend to the Brophy's my whole life, I am filled with great memories of Mr. Brophy. Growing up, he was like a second father to me. I will never forget his great sense of humor and most of all his sayings. Some of those saying I still use today!

I have always considered myself lucky to have known such a great person. I wish we had more Mr. Brophy's in the world, it might be a better place to live. I certainly guarantee it would be more fun!

John,
I will so miss my visits with you when I come back to Philly. I'm a fairly jaded person and have few heros left in my life. You and my Father were at the top of that short list. I will miss you. I will always smile when I think of you. That alone comforts me.
Fair winds my friend.

love,
John Brophy

Who is going to carry on the legacy of good, racey jokes and expressions?? Mr B was one of a kind! The world was better for having him in it, his sense of humor was unmatched. He outlasted me at Casey's last year..sure knew how to have fun and make you feel like a million bucks! Love, Jodie Do (as he liked to call me!)

I probably only knew Mr. Brophy for about a week but he was a pleasure. He had a great sense of humor and was kind. He tried hard and maintained a great sense of dignity up until the very end - never complained and always had a light word for the staff. A humble man. It was heartening to see how much his family loved him. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Brophy was the friendliest and kindest man. Chuck and I and our family loved him dearly. The Brophy's always sat near our family in Church. John and Gary are dear to us and we have spent many wonderful times with the Brophy's family and cherished Mr. Brophy as a friend and father figure. They just don't make men like him anymore. Our love is extended to Bette and her whole family. Mr. Brophy you will be missed. God Bless.
