Dear Tom,
I just received word from Joao. I am very sorry to hear about you mum. I am sorry I never met her personally, but I know what a caring and lovely person she was from talking to Joao and from listening to the way you spoke about her.Our thoughts are with you and your family in this difficult time. I am glad she died peacefully and you were there with her.

Guys
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. I have to share this story, which you may or may not recall... During High School your mom came to my rescue when my leg got caught underneath the school bus. She came to the Acme parking lot b/c she heard someone scream. She just about picked me up put me in her car and drove me home to my house, which by the way I pleaded and begged her not to. I asked her to take me to the emergency room herself so my mother would not yell at me!!!!!! I will always remember your mom for that.

Dear Tom,

Mandy and I were glad that we were able to attend the celebration of your mom's life last week. We enjoyed learning more about her and her unique life. We also enjoyed meeting your family and sharing the day. I've heard that each person has two lives. One begins when they are born and the other begins when their mother passes. I am certain that your mom was very happy and proud of the first life that you have built and I am equally certain that she wishes you and Joao an even better life in the future. Take care and thanks again for sharing the most difficult of days.

Best regards,

Keith and Mandy

Dear Tom, Joao, Brothers and Marie
We had the fortune of hear and see your mother for the first time 0n Christmas, 2008, when João hooked us up on-line through Skype. We were gathered in Fortaleza and you and yours were in Philadelphia. Back then we celebrated the birth of the Lord Jesus, an oportunity at which we were introduced and talked briefly and in that moment our families bonded closer as both sides got to know each other for the first time. From that moment on we loved Miss Pat. She imediately reminded us of our mom Miss Djanira, the unconditional mother who welcomed all without distinction. She won us all at this side of America, not only by her tenderness, attention, symphaty, education, simplicity, tranquility, sweetness, and zeal, but above all for the interest she always demonstrated towards João's family, whom she surely had as her's too. Despite never having the priviledge of meeting her in person we had her as our mom, specially because of the warm welcome, affection and importance she had in João's life and, in consequence, our lives as well.
We wish, in this moment of irreparable loss and in the name of all brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, nephews and nieces that here reside, express our deepest regard and respect for the loss of Miss Pat. It gives us great comfort to know she now rests in peace and from the heavens will continue to perform her motherly care towards us all.
United in a chain of faith we pray our Lord to give us solace and strength to understand and accept His desires.
We are now left with the realization that, although we will never have her warmth again, we shall undoubtedly have Miss Pat forever in our minds and hearts.
Our deepest, strongest, brotherly embrace. The Reis Family
