Maria Christina Palomarez, 60, lifelong Santa Clara resident passed away on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 in Deming. Cremation is to take place and a memorial mass has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 at Santa Clara Catholic Church. Concluding services and inurnment will immediately follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Maria Christina was born on June 17, 1953 in Bayard to Juana Escobedo and Simon Garcia. She was known as the voice for the Central Dispatch. Maria Christina was a devote Catholic and a lifelong communicant of Santa Clara Catholic Church. She was a loving grandmother who will be greatly missed. She is survived by three sons, Fred Gallegos of Casa Grande, Ariz., David (Jessica) Gallegos of Morenci, Ariz., and Daniel Palomarez of Los Lunas, N.M.; a step-son, Alex Palomarez of South Dakota; a brother, Silas (Genevieve) Garcia of Doña Ana, N.M.; a sister, Rosalia (Alfonso) Holguin of Deming; a sister-in-law, Barbara Garcia of Albuquerque, N.M.; and twelve grandchildren. Maria Christina was preceded in death by her husband, Candelario Palomarez, Jr., her parents and a brother, Antonio J. Garcia.
