Pastor Andy was my pastor. He was one of the most dignified, loving, and respectful ministers I have ever met. It was easy to fall in love with his family, church, and circle of friendships. He walked in a level of maturity, wisdom, and sophistication that is rare even in the ministry.
His sense of humor was always a treat! While checking into the Hampton Inn of Deming, last summer 2013 - his ushers assisted us taking luggage to our hotel room. On they way back to the elevator to head back downstairs, I noticed a gentleman whom I assumed was an arriving pastor who was here to attend the conference. I asked, "you are so familiar - please tell me your name again?". To this he calmly replied, "Forrest Whitaker". I didn't recognize the name, and went on my way. Later Pastor Silva heard about this from his ushers. When I saw him later that day, he walked up to me smiling and laughing and said, "I heard that you though Forrest was a minister at the conference!!! Ha ha ha! He made me laugh by his big grin and laughter. Do you remember the joy that he exuded? I do!!! He is not gone - he is absent from the body only!!! He merely changed addresses! He was a very funny and happy individual. His smile was contagious! I will really, really miss him greatly! I have shed some tears - not that I am camping in grief - however, the scriptures say that even "Jesus wept"! Weeping may endure for a night/evening - but joy comes in the morning!
If you did not know him, I wish that you had. If you think that Pastor is gone - you are deceived! He is going to spend more time with you (if you are a true believer) in eternity in Heaven, than you ever spent with him here in this brief life (a vapor). No, he's not gone, he has just gone on to the greatest place that will ever exist and you should nearly be jealous of how wonderful it is - he actually got an upgrade that you would "die for" - smile! You will probably die to go there - but will live eternally there too!
I trust that these words will encourage many - for Pastor Andy was and is a gift from God to all of us who have had the distinct pleasure to know him. To know him is to love him.
Your friend in Christ,
Pastor James Hosack
