Not sure what to say?

Ed and I were classmates in Waverly, NY. Since both our names started with "H" we were often seated next to each other. He was everyone's friend and often their confidante---a great "buddy"!

To the Hathaway boys:
Back in the early years on Huffer Road, I remember the backyard fun coming to a halt one summer evening after Bob and I had a good, fair race to the patio door. Now technically, I guess Bob won, with the stitches to prove it. Just an old broken storm door, but to a 4 or 5-year-old, it felt like the world was ending, as Bob and your Mom headed off to the Emergency Room, leaving me to face "Mr. Hathaway"!
But your Dad was just as kind, calm, and understanding as could be as he walked me home, gently convincing me that Bob would be fine and that it was nobody's fault.
I'm happy to share the memories, while saddened at your loss.

Larry and I became friends with your Dad while working at Delco. He "fixed" machines that Larry broke. My friend Jean Corey and I were "off line" machine operators and he would, at times, relieve us for about an hour so he could build parts for the model shop. He would say to us "take a break girl's". We were always happy to see
"Mr. Ed". Other times we would be on Co. breaks and we would just sit and talk about everything & anything, solving the problems of GM and the World haha...he was a Book of Knowledge! I believe his brain was like a sponge, nothing he couldn't talk about. He was a always calm,lay-back. When it came to talking Family...he talked proudly of his three sons Robert,Charles, Stephen and of his Grandchildren. He talked of the good cook your Mom was and the great Italian meals.

We have played cards together for over 20 years. First in a Euchre League then switched to Fri. night Texas Hold' Em at our house. No matter the weather we knew he would be there..unless he was out of town. I believe April 26th was our last game. He will remain in our thoughts and prayers and missed emminsely! May he have a game going in heaven above.

Our Deepest Sympathy

This is Tony T. Tran, I was the dinemate with Ed at Old Country Buffet for the last 5 years... He was a good friend whenever in needs. Ex: When I had a accident, he spent almost 4 days with me to find a car... He took me to the Casino and other places to show me about Rochester... Whoever has problems, Ed always offers the help one time he even offers his denture for a guy who just lost his teeth HA HA He has been the man with wide range of knowledge and we will miss him a lot
