For thirty years, I was privileged to be Lacey's father. I would like you to know her as I saw her.

When Lacey Autumn was a child she learned from me. As she became a woman, I found that she had become the teacher. She angered slowly and she forgave with grace. She listened without judgment then offered empathy and support easily. Lacey loved perfectly, with no conditions, no expectations and without restraint. She was exceptionally compassionate with the small, the weak, and the helpless. She was optimistic and took a positive approach to living. Characteristically, she named her rescued dog “Hope”. She was fun, adventurous, happy, and charming. She laughed easily and often. She lit the world with her sunny disposition.

The day we went to her home to go through her belongings, the city was covered with heavy white snowfall and showered in bright sunlight. We meet her fiancé Dan and many of her friends outside their home. We noted the delicate cathedral of snow covered trees arching together over the street were a perfect celebration of Lacey's life. A few days later, after the visitation ceremony for her friends, we were driving to the airport to bring her ashes home. It was gray and raining, my wife said the same thing I was thinking … “The entire city is weeping because she is leaving.”

Lacey took the best from all of us and created something better. While she was beautiful on the outside, on the inside, she was exquisite. For all of us that had a chance to know and love her I want to say, “Lacey, thank you, you were wonderful”

To the family of Lacy,
Even though I have not seen Lacey in several years now, I still remember what a wonderful person she was. She always had a smile on her face. She will not be forgotten.
