Tom contacted me quite a few years ago after seeing my name as a Rochester area alumni contact for our Fraternity, Phi Kappa Tau. He invited me to lunch with himself and his fellow "Kodak Lunch Bunch". I am so grateful for accepting that offer. I joined them regularly after that initial meeting. It was a delight to talk and get to know Tom, his friends and family. I am happy to have spent the time I had with them and share in their stories, celebrations and losses. I am a better person for having known Tom. You will be missed brother.

Our mother, Patsy O'Brien Liedl, shared a lifelong friendship with Tom and George Hope, through their lives in St. Paul and at the lake. Their mothers, Alma Hope and Rachael O'Brien, met not long after each had lost a beloved child and carried each other through their grief. We last saw Tom and Vince at the Crosslake church where Tom presented his slideshow of his photography in the Army in WWII, a moving personal and historical account. Our condolences to Tom's sons and families, as well as George and Barbara's families, from Patsy and all the O'Briens and Liedls at the lake.

When I first met Tom in the mid 1980's he suggested that we go out for lunch. Over the course of an hour or so, he was focused on asking me questions as if I were the one with fascinating stories to tell. I soon realized that I wanted to do a lot less talking and a lot more listening. His WW II service, his career, his work on The Lone Ranger, among so many other aspects of his life are a continuing inspiration. Tom's smile and his generous spirit will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Tom was a kind and loving soul of so much accomplishment in his long and successful life. Tom and I became friends in ice cream shop and dinner at St. Johns. Always took interest in other people RIP. Great man. He will be missed.
