I was employeed as a nuclear engineer at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Not too long after Dennis recovered from his injuries, he spoke to several hundered NRC employees about the events leading up to the crash and its aftermath, espicially for him and his Family. Aside from being a heroric pilot, Dennis was a first-class storyteller. We were all spellbound as he unfolded his story. One statement he made has stayed with me. Recounting the improbability of the initiating event, he said, in effect, a near-impossible accident can happen on "day one". For me, his precience was born out with the nuclear accident in Japan. Dennis's "grit", keen insights, and heroric actions will not be forgotten. My condolences to his family members.
