My condolences to the Endo family on Akira's passing. Akira and I entered Wilson High School as sophomores, I playing the clarinet and he the violin. Those were very special years because Nick Furjanick our conductor was a legend in music circles in and around Long Beach for his musical scholarship. It was obvious that Akira was already headed toward greater accomplishments because of his playing skill and I felt honored to be in the same orchestra with him. Then we parted ways for many years, Akira, the musician, to USC and I the scientist to Caltech. My wife was a student for three years at the University of Colorado, so when, many years later I discovered that Akira had become a Professor of Music there, I corresponded with him a couple of times and told him how wonderful it was that he and I could cross paths, even at a distance, once again. He will be sorely missed.

Dear Endo Family,
I am very saddened to learn of the passing of Maestro Endo. I was privileged to be in one of his music classes at Long Beach City College from 1962-1963. As I read Maestro Endo's personal history, I was very touched that he dearly loved his three cats Foggy, Hazy, and Dewey. I, too, love my kitties. I send my deepest condolences to your family on the loss of your husband, father and grandfather.
With Love and Blessings,
Susan (Iwamae) Nomoto

Dear Keiko:

I was very saddened to hear of Akira's death. We worked together at the Hamilton Philharmonic and I learned to like and respect him very much, both as a person and as a musician. I am pleased to see that you never lost your passion for animals! For the past 14 years I have been working with a rescue group in this area but I never forgot the little one your fed smoked salmon on your back porch in Hamilton.

Dear Keiko,
How shocked we were to hear of Akira's passing. We worked with him while he was in Hamilton, before we moved to Cape Cod. Please let us know where you are, so we can write to you more fully. He was one of our very favorite people, as well as a fine musician. Email- sandyneckjo@hotmail.com
