Richard was a hero to the Engineering profession. He stood above everyone else, not because of his practice, but because of his dedication to the integrity of the profession and the accomplishment of so many engineers throughout the world. He was an untiring advocate for structural engineering and what it brings to the project. As an Architect and leader of one of Denver's largest firms, we often don't take the time to celebrate the contributions the structural engineer makes to the work we all do together. The architect is always the star, and the engineer and unsung hero behind the scense. Richard was truly a special advocate for the profession, investing time and energy to recognize the accomplishments that so often get unheralded. I have had the pleaseure of knowing and working with Richard for 40+ years, and I know that everyone in the architecture profession will miss him greatly. He was a special man, a wonderful writer, and a great engineer. God Speed Richard, and I know that up there in heaven, God is calling upon you to innovate the newest and greatest accomplishments in building heaven!

I had the pleasure of working with Richard for several years with ACEC. He was in inspiration to many of us - real leader and a good man. I enjoyed getting Xmas card replicas of his paintings. I will miss him.

I always made a point to read the articles written by Richard Weingardt in Structure and Structural Engineering magazines. I will miss his valuable insights into our profession and his inspiration to be an active engineer in society.

What a shock. Rich was a truly special man, a mentor and a friend. He elevated the engineering profession through his writing and promoting the value that structural engineers bring to the building process. He was an inspiration and colleague and we will miss him dearly.

Rich has been an inspiration for many. positive thinking, pushing the envelope, and most importantly, thinking outside the box, almost under heard of for an engineer. As a fellow engineer., I am proud, and thankful, to have met and interacted with Rich. A great guy, who challenged all in the engineering profession to make a difference. We will!
