Brian Thur Obituary

1974 ~ 2015
Born January 6, 1974, to David and Noreen Thur of Murray, Utah. He was a courageous, tenacious, comical, loving friend to many, including his best friend, Joree Felker. Brian passed away on October 13, 2015, in Murray Utah. He is survived by his parents, six sisters, and four brothers. He was especially close to his cousin, Cami Camber of Lethbridge, Canada.
Brian was an artist in lighting design. He designed and lit up such persons as B.B. King and Roseanne Cash who both hugged and thanked Brian. He ran lights for many local bands and events such as the Twilight Series and the Gallivan Center festivals. Brian obtained his BS in Theater at the University of Utah concentrating in Lighting Design.
Brian and Joree loved to travel! They went to many places overseas and in the U.S. with friends and by themselves. Brian also was an excellent cook. Those fortunate have eaten his Crème' Brulee', Louisiana Hunter Sauce or any of the hundreds of recipes he made. He was a great chef with everything from Dutch ovens to soufflé.
Brian was known for his love of birds. If birds go to heaven, Brian will be surrounded by them. Brian also overcame the challenge God gave him at birth. For the majority of his life, one could not tell that Brian was handicapped by a right foot amputation. He learned to walk on a prosthetic and went on to be fully functional. He frequently donated to Shriners' Hospital in Salt Lake City.
A celebration of life ceremony will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road in Taylorsville. Brian has donated his body to the Intermountain Donation Services with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers please donate to one of Brian's favorite charities: www.tracyaviary.com or www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.
