When I first asked Mary Kay what I should call her, she simply said, "Call me Grandma Smith," and gave me a hug. She was always fiercely confident, with a boundless spirit and a booming voice as she sang hymnals on the piano. When I was too bashful to play the instrument myself she would say, "Just play for you, just do it for fun!" This is advice that I have carried with me over the years whenever I am too nervous about what other people may think. I think of Grandma Smith and her comforting, caring attitude and love: Her independence, her fearlessness, her faith.
Mary was truly a light among the many. I worked with her at Cottonwood Hospital where she was a bright inspiration for all she met. She filled her quest to help others be their best and find joy in all she did!. Rest well, dear lady and we will all have A PARTY when we meet again.

it sings because it has a song."

And yes"…people will never forget how you made them feel."
Mary Kay led her life with a song in her heart and a rhythm to her beat. Her laughter and enthusiasm for life always warmly touched and inspired us. We will miss her.
I will always hear her laughter and remember her friendship.
She lived an abundant and full life, and we loved her well.
