Neldon Hamblin Obituary

Neldon E. Hamblin
1933 ~ 2018
CLEARFIELD- Neldon E. Hamblin, 84 (almost 85) returned to God and reunited with his sweetheart and love of his life Bonnie on Thursday November 29, 2018. Devoted husband, father, brother, son, friend, grandpa and great grandpa returns to our father in Heaven for a great reunion.
Neldon was born in his aunt Maddie's kitchen in Kaysville Utah on Dec 4, 1933 son of Elton Laurence and Edna May (Higley) Hamblin. He attended and graduated from Davis High School where he excelled in sports and was a 4 year letterman in football, baseball, wrestling and track. His great love was baseball. Bonnie saved every penny she had to buy Neldon his letterman's jacket and she loved to wear it. Neldon grew up in west Clearfield and had many fond memories with his Mom and Dad, two brothers Roland and Carl and his 2 sisters Joanne (Pitkin) and Susan (Nye). Neldon met Bonnie at the Cottage malt shop where Bonnie worked at the counter. It was love at first sight. Neldon had an old 39 Chev with a leaky radiator he drove to go see Bonnie on Ross Drive in Clearfield. He would fill that Chev radiator with water and drive to Bonnie's home and fill it back up again to drive home. Neldon and Bonnie were married in the Logan Temple and were blessed with six wonderful Sons (Rick, Cary, Kirk, Clair, Doug and Darren), the pride and joy of their life. He worked two jobs most of his life to raise those boys. Later they enjoyed six special Daughters-in-law. Life was busy with 6 boys and sports every night of the week. Neldon also loved to spend time with family, camp, hunt, fish and Motorcycle with Bonnie, his family and cherished friends. Neldon coached little league sports for over 20 years, where he influenced and inspired many boys and young men and is still remembered and honored by them today.
Neldon started working at the Naval Base in Ogden and then later transferred to Hill Air Force base where he was promoted to General Manager over all Hill AFB distribution. He served on the DOD95 committee and retired from Hill after 39 years of service. While juggling work and sports, Neldon was a Clearfield City councilman for 8 years and the City Mayor for 16 years. He served on the state UDOT committee and was instrumental in the development of highway SR 193. He also served on the Davis Hospital board of directors. Neldon retired from the Clearfield city with 24 years of service. Neldon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints and served in many callings. One of his favorite was Young Men's president and he also enjoyed serving on the Stake High Council. Neldon was one of a kind and made everyone he spoke with feel important and loved. It has been said of him "God doesn't make men like him very often."
Neldon is survived by his brother Carl (Joyce), Sister Susan (Gary) Nye, six Sons, Rick (Marilyn), Cary (JoAnne), Kirk (Cindy), Clair (Karen), Doug (Barbara), Darren (Melanie), 31 Grandchildren and 64 Great Grandchildren and two more on the way. He loved, enjoyed and cherished each and every one. He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, Parents, Brother Roland, Sister Joanne, and grandson Jerry.
