Greta Doutré Obituary

Greta Ashcroft Doutré passed away peacefully July 5, 2018 while surrounded by her children. Born on December 30, 1931 to Aura and Ruth Ashcroft in Logan, Utah. Greta cherished memories of being raised by her parents along with her mom's twin sister and husband, Ottis and Ruby Balls. She loved growing up with many aunts, uncles and cousins. She attended Utah State University before meeting David Lamar Doutré, who affectionately called her "Dove". They married in the Logan Temple on October 10, 1952.
Greta traded her calm, quiet childhood as an only child for five active, rambunctious children and an "on-the-go" husband. Somehow she survived pets of all kinds, late night backyard basketball games, water fights, 3 day road trips that turned into a month and the loud, constant flow of kids and friends. She maintained her love of reading, gardening, keeping a tidy home, and chatting with girlfriends. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in Primary, Young Womens and as Relief Society President. She was a fabulous PTA president which led to life-long "Bookclub" friends. She was a gracious hostess for many neighbor, friend and family parties. She was a hard worker who took great pride in all that she did. She worked as a medical terminologist for Blue Cross Blue Shield. Greta faced many health challenges and proved to be a valiant fighter by never giving-up. Mom, it must be "heaven" to feel vibrant, young and healthy again! We love you!
Survived by her children: David (Marie), Craig (Suzanne), Scott, and Lisa McDermott (Scott); grandchildren: Jacob (Camilla) and Taylor Doutré, Chase and Madison (Mitch Peterson) Doutré, Caylie Cook, Alexandria, Ellise, and Erica McDermott. Preceded in death by parents, husband: David Lamar Doutré; daughter: Greta Ann Cook; and son-in-law: Paul Cook.
Mom will be buried in her beloved Cache Valley. Graveside services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary of Logan, Utah and will be held at the Hyde Park Cemetery at 1 pm, on Wed. July 11, 2018. Condolences may be expressed online at www.allenmortuaries.net
