Shirley Jean (Brower) Ison, born August 12, 1939 passed away May 31, 2018 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Shirley was born in Yuma, Colorado to William and Thelma Brower and was the second eldest of four children. She married her High School sweetheart Ron Ison on December 27, 1955. Ron and Shirley moved the family to California in 1958. Upon arrival in California, Shirley began working as a waitress at the Blue Ridge Inn in Wrightwood and later at the Holiday Inn in Victorville. Along with her daughter Pam, Shirley also opened a "Stitch in Time" fabric store in Victorville. Shirley was a devout Christian and was active in the church choir, where her beautiful soprano voice could be heard praising the Lord. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Victorville and later a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Apple Valley. Shirley was an avid gardener, superior crafter and quilter, as well as the neighborhood power walker, zooming around with her fanny pack and handcrafted sun visor. Shirley was a sun worshiper and loved trips to Lake Havasu, attending car shows, riding motorcycles, and puttering around the yard. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Ison, and constant companion Lucy, their beloved Chiweenie; parents William and Thelma Brower, her sister Kay Bushner, and sister-in-law Phyllis Brower. She is survived by her children and their spouses; Rod Ison (Tanya), Pam Gray (Randy), and Rick Ison (Tammy). She is also survived by seven grandchildren and their spouses; Danielle Gibson (Mike), Brandon Neeley, Amanda Varela (Manny), Brian Neeley, Brittany Mohrlock (Tyler), Rachel Conner, and Erik Ison; eight great-grandchildren; brother Jim Brower, sister and brother-in-law Sandy and Gale Crosier, brother-in-law Fred Bushner, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held for Shirley on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Sunset Hills Memorial Park at 11:00 am, with a reception following. Sunset Hills is located at 24000 Waalew Rd., Apple Valley, CA 92307.

Dear Mom,
We will always remember the good times with you and how much you loved and cared for so many. Your crafts, your love for Jesus and singing worship songs at church. Alzheimers is a terrible disease, and it took you away from us way too soon. We rejoice in knowing you are with our Heavenly Father, singing praises continually in his choir of angels! Much love and admiration, Rodney & Tanya Ison
