Feisal Sayeed Obituary

Feisal Ali Sayeed was tragically taken from us much too soon on November 20, 2010. Our love for Feisal is limitless, and so, too, is our sorrow.
Feisal spent most of his 47 years living, loving, and thriving in Iowa. He made a countless number of friends along the way, attending Clive Elementary, St. Pius X Catholic School, Valley High School, The University of Iowa, and Drake University.
Feisal loved any and all competitive sports, and he was a natural at all that he tried. He was a state champion swimmer and a welcome partner on the golf course where he would always net a few holes for the team. He was also a fierce opponent on the handball court where he was not afraid to use his body to his advantage. He loved life and he loved people. For those of us fortunate enough to have known Feisal, he simply had a way about him. His magnetic smile was felt the instant he entered a room. The community sought his charisma to help support the Boys and Girls Club, the Science Center of Iowa, and the YMCA of Greater Des Moines.
Feisal was a leader in the commercial real estate industry, working to revitalize downtown Des Moines. He also helped to consolidate commercial real estate in Des Moines. Feisal was a consummate mentor for those who entered the business. He was awarded membership in the inaugural class of Des Moines Business Record "Forty Under 40." He was a 2001 graduate of Leadership Iowa and a Paul Harris Fellow with the Rotary Club.
Feisal recently began to share his favorite daily fun facts to friends and family on Facebook. Here is one fact about him to remember: He loved okra and radishes and hated mushrooms. His larger than life personality cannot be replaced and will forever be missed, most especially by his surviving family: his wife of 21 years, Priscilla; his children, Hana, Kalen, and Ella; his parents, Sayeed and Karuna Hussain; his brothers Shoab and Sadath Sayeed; and a loving extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Temple for Performing Arts on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa, the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, and the Science Center of Iowa would be appreciated.

Our family painfully thinking of your family at this time. All three of our children were taken care of by Dr. Sayeed and Dr Hussain. We are all 5 of us, John, Kelle, Katie, Bryan and Molly Collins keeping you in our prayers. I use to run in to Feisal at the kids basketball games and we use to tell him how much we adored his dad and brother. He always lit up with a proud gratious smile....and a soft spoken "thank you" God Bless

To the Sayeed family,

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I knew Feisal in high school. He was a vibrant, big hearted, bright light of a guy. A leader, an inspiration. He made every room he entered better. From the posts here and the outpouring of love and affection for him on Facebook, it's evident that Feisal kept on being that same guy he was back at Valley High. Please know that your husband and father will be remembered and cherished by so many.

To the entire Sayeed family, I send my love and condolences. Feisal will always be a part of my happy childhood, when we were lifeguards together and had to open the pool on Saturday mornings. When my brother Tom shared this sad news with me today, I felt like someone in my family had been taken away. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Katy Beh Neas

The true measure of a persons life is not how much he has loved, but how much he has been loved by others. By that standard, Feisal had an amazing life. We send our love and prayers for healing to the Sayeed family.

Feisal was a true gentleman and someone who I am honored to have known. We had lockers next to each other at the Y for the last 10 years and shared breakfast together on numerous Friday mornings at Rotary. Feisal always carried a positive spirit and his energy was contagious. Last Wednesday was our last conversation together when he gave me a big pat on my shoulder for a recent professional accomplishment. I felt his pat on my shoulder and recalled his kind words to me for the rest of the day reconfirming once again what a special person he was. I looked up to him as a big brother and I will forever miss my friend Feisal. My best wishes to his family that he was so proud of. May your great spirit rest in peace until we meet again.

I first met Feisal in a former life when I was in the car business while going to college, in 1995. Even though he never actually bought a car from me, he recommended me to other people and also encouraged me to not only finish college but also graduate school (which I did). Even though back then, I was a young man without proper direction in life, he was always kind to me and encouraged me in many ways. I will never forget that kindness and the way in which he treated me. May your sould rest in peace Feisal and may your entire family find comfort in this time of sorrow knowing that you are still looking at them and smiling from up above.

Feisal may have been the most polite young man with an energetic smile since I first met him in the 5th grade. Feisal made me feel like a friend & brother for the next 8 years. Then just two years ago he requested to "friend" me on facebook. He was my 1st friend on that website. Since then on a daily basis he has made me ponder and/or laugh with his posts! From what I have read about Feisal from his friends in the last few days, Feisal has been repected & loyal person in so many lives.
