Gary W. Chew
West Des Moines
Gary W. Chew, 70, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A memorial visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines. Burial will be at a later date in Osceola.
Gary was born November 1, 1942 in Osceola to Dale and Verna Chew. He was a senior design engineer at BF Goodrich Aerospace. In his free time he enjoyed the outdoors, deer hunting, fishing, woodworking, landscaping and yard work. Gary was also an honorary Osceola volunteer fireman and a lifetime member of the NRA.
Gary is survived by his wife, Phyllis Hetheriton of West Des Moines; mother, Verna Chew of Osceola; daughter, Marti (Dean) Hildreth of Osceola; son; Mark (Tamera) Chew of Panora; grandchildren, Tiara (Dylan) Carter, Jessica (Tanner Pitts) Hildreth and Bailie (Adam Scott) Hildreth; sister, Cheryl (Clifford) Phipps of Nevada; two nieces, Shawn Phipps and Kris Wright (Mike); and a great-nephew, Conner Hines. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy and father, Dale.

So sorry to hear about Gary. Just doesn't seem possible. Our thoughts are with the whole family. We had a lot of good memories when we were younger and in school with Cheryl and Gary. The memories that you have will be what gets you through this.
