Uncle Dave and Aunt Sib just email'd me of your dad' passing. I am saddened; still remember him well. Love Cousin Lex
I also had the privilege to have John as a teacher. I learned a lot from him, not only solid-state chemistry but also a lot for my life. He was a great teacher and a good man. I will always keep him in good memory.
Julia & Jim -
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I have fond memories of our time together many years ago on Orcas Island - one of the few times when I was able to spend time with you cousins and Uncle John and Aunt Irene. It has been comforting to learn more about John and the many lives he touched. His life was full and he will always remain an inspiration to us.
John and Ann Corbett & family
Julia: I appreciated the opportunity to read your beautiful tribute. You and your family are in my thoughts.
I had the privilege to work with John through the Materials Chemistry Program at the Ames Lab and to also attend church with him at St. John's. I loved to talk with him about the history of the Lab and even interviewed him once about his thoughts on science policy in the United States. I was always amazed at his energy and enthusiasm. I will really miss him.
A great teacher, i learnt so much from John and his lab in spedding Hall Ames. I loved his one liners, witty and his ability to take criticism from his students. I cannot bear to walk the 3rd floor of spedding Hall which I visited several times after leaving Ames in 1993. I had to see John everytime I visited USA. Great Guy and has left a worldwide legacy in China, India, germany, spain and many in USA.
Julia, you and your brother are in my thoughts.
I was so very sorry to hear of John's passing. I met him only recently through my mother's friendship with him. He was such a delightful gentleman...funny, tender, smart and caring. I shall always be grateful for the smile he put on my mother's face.
John sat behind us at church, Sunday after Sunday. His warmth and joy were present in his smile as he passed the peace each week. He often brought visitors, and clearly loved his life and his work. We will miss him at St. John's.
I met your Dad, Julia, only once and will remember him forever.
I am so very saddened by his passing.
My heart goes out to you and your family, Julia.
The youth served by Youth and Shelter Services have enjoyed the presence and support of John. His loss will be deeply felt by those of us at YSS who were fortunate to spend time with him. Sincere sympathy from all of YSS
