University Senior League Senators - best summer of my life. Thanks, Hayes - University Senior League's answer to "The White Shadow!" Your backyard with mound, backstop, hitting cage, that's commitment from a coach!

Mr. Harned, I remember him driving the big yellow bus when I went to Willard Elementary for performances across the state of Iowa. I was a Tinickler and so was my sister and we gained so much confidence under his tutelage. He really cared about us kids and the students really bloomed. He gave so many people opportunities they would have not had otherwise. He was a legend. I am sorry for your loss but he lives on in all the people he touched in his life.

There will never be another Hayes. Wow. What a good man. Des Moines, central iowa, oak island Minnesota and everywhere in between will miss this man. Annual fishing trips won't be the same without a visit from Hayes and a few of his life tips offered each year.

Luann and Family; Hayes was a great guy who loved people. He was especially great with kids. He was a family friend to the Hands and my dad, Tom. Hayes was our favorite sub at both Callanan and McCombs. Kids eagerly looked forward to class when he was in the building. He had a smile and nice word for all. He was truly a giver. He will be missed.
