T. Ward Phillips
Des Moines
T. Ward Phillips, 82, died on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center.
Ward was a life-long resident of Des Moines, born on February 26, 1931. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and the University of Iowa. He was an investment banker at Central National Bank, Allied Insurance Company and Statesman Investment Advisors. He was a past President of the Iowa Investment Banker's Association and served on various community boards.
He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Des Moines Club and Wakonda Club. Ward especially enjoyed being with family and friends in Colorado, Clear Lake and Arizona.
Left to celebrate his life are his wife, of 61 years, Helen Parker Phillips; daughter, Polly Phillips; son, Ward Phillips and his wife, Laurie all of Des Moines; daughter, Betsy Henritze and her husband, Mike of Vail, Colorado; grandchildren, Andrew Knoche, Ward Phillips IV (Alyssa), Charlie Phillips (Whitney), Erin Grace (Tom) and Sam Henritze (Brittany); great grandson, Hudson Phillips; and a sister, Marilyn Cameron of Ithaca, New York and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elizabeth Burt.
A private family celebration of his life will be held. In accordance with Ward's wishes, he has been cremated and he desired that there be no funeral, just good memories.

It was such a pleasure to get to know grandpa T. Ward Phillips in the short time I got know him. What a funny and charming man he was. Hudson, his great grandson, loved visiting him at Ramsey. Charlie and I are so happy he got to know T. Ward at the beginning of his life.
