I have so many fond childhood memories of growing up and spending time at the Monroe house on Liptonshire Drive in Dallas--many nights spending-the-night at my best friend Nancy's house! I remember her grandmother Mabel living there, her glamorous bis sis Cheryl, her funny & beautiful mom, Dorcas, and her dad, Bill--such a handsome man, strong, dependable, quiet, and gentle. Reading his obituary, I realize that we have lost another of the Last Great Generation, and the respect that I feel for Bill Monroe is immense. He was a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a role model for us all. No doubt his reward lies in Heaven now! I am thankful for those times that I was in the company of the Monroes--they are days that I treasure and won't forget. Dorcas, Nancy, Cheryl, (and families)-you are in my thoughts and prayers; you are Bill's legacy that lives on 'til we all meet again. What an honor!
Love,
Vicki Traylor Bayless
