I am so sorry to hear about George's passing, my aunt in Austin told me today. My Dad Ed Jones went from grade school through A&M and they were dear friends for a lifetime. I speak for my Aunt Janie, Uncle Dick and brothers Steve and Kevin that we are sad for your loss. We have a lot of stories from their A&M days. Your Dad was a good man. Allen Jones

Best thing George ever did for Arlington Water Treatment (I was a water treatment operator when I met him) was to install pumps in the Great Southwest and Grace Howell elevated tanks, which had overflow elevations below the hydraulic grade line in their area.

Without this innovation, these tanks would have remained water quality and pressure nightmares.

When we later implemented distribution system pumping energy management, those elevated tank pumps became an even more useful tool, helping us to save the Arlington rate payers big water tanks full of money.

Other than his quirky brilliance, I recall also admiring how pleasant and civil George was, although most of his peers in utility field operations management positions of the time were quite in your face.

Well, I had heard that he could be really in your face when he needed to be, but I never saw that side of him.

Guess I was lucky that he never felt the need to go there with me. ;-)

I wish his family and friends well. He had a good life, and he was a good man.

George was a great teacher and I enjoyed working with him. He taught me a lot and always had a good sense of humor. I pray for peace for his family during this trying time.
