Mr. Griffin was a wonderful teacher, and a very kind man. He will be missed.
Mr. Griffin ( which was the way I was told to address you when I began teaching at BHS in 1979), you were such a delight to know and work with. You tried so hard to keep me in line. Alas! It didn't work!. I'm sure you're getting those Souls in Glory to sing on-key and to "enunciate!!!" Thanks, Al David, you were such a delight!

I only just heard of Mr. Griffin's passing and it broke my heart. I know we have to evolve and move on to make room for the new. However, it is always hard to see someone leave that brings so much love, beauty and life to the world. "Allen David" as my sister and I would call him was/is one of the best teachers I ever had. He did not just teach Literature he taught us very important life skills. One day when our Sr English class was being especially obnoxious he stared at each student until they simply shut up. Once the class was quiet he stood up and wrote across the board, in his beautiful handwriting the word "Understanding". Then he said, "Once you learn the meaning of this word and how to employ it, you will hold the secret to all life in your hands!" Gosh I always did and always will love him. Thank for giving a place to remember him...my prayers are with him and his family.
I learned so much in Mr. Griffin's class and went on to HPU and majored in art and English. I returned to Boswell as a substitute and was assigned a junior English class. 'Al David' approached me and said I was giving too many A's to the students writing their junior themes!...loved that guy!
Mr. Griffin or Al David as we affectionately was a great English teacher and person. He will be missed.
A.D it's my turn now to let you know how much you are missed and going to be missed. My days were full taking care of you and now they are a little empty but I do know this for sure you are where you want to be. I wasn't ready for you to leave us but you were ready. So tell everyone up there hello for us. Love you and miss you dearly..
I had the pleasure of teaching with Mr. Griffin the first 5 years of my career. I loved his charm, wit, and kindness. When I left to go to Keller to teach kindergarten he was so delightful...he knew I needed to be with those little ones. I will always remember his beautiful words of encouragement as I went down a new path. He will be missed in my heart forever.
Mr. Griffin, I remember him well although I had not seen him since graduation in 1960. He was one of my favorites. It amazes me how the little Keller ISD was able to put together so many good teachers in those days. My prayers are with the family at this time. Mike Lester
Mr. Griffin was my English teacher at Keller High School. Will never forget how he made us memorize 1,000 lines of MacBeth and Julius Ceasar. His goal was to have all his students prepared for college English. I also helped him prepare the library for the opening of Boswell High School. He was a family friend and visited us often. I'm so sorry to have lost touch with him through the years; however, often thought of him. He was special. The family will be remembered in my prayers.
I enjoyed teaching with Al David at Boswell High School. He was a great teacher to many students.

What wonderful memories I have of Mr. Griffin during my years at Boswell! He made me love the library, he always had great suggestions for new books and was such an awesome teacher! I think of him everytime I eat sardines and crackers! What a lovely man, Thank you Mr. Griffin for sharing your wonderful gifts with me!
I am saddened to hear of Mr. Griffin's passing. He was indeed one of the greatest teachers I have ever had. The world has lost yet another great man. Rest in Peace. All of my love sent to your family.
The greatest teacher I ever had became one of my greatest friends. I will remember his enormous passion for teaching. No one's was greater than his. I know he is well now and basking in the glow of God. I will love and miss him forever.
You'll never know how I treasure all of the hours we spent luncheoning and talking the Course in Miracles--how I miss that, but I know you'll be right back.
My wonderful Brother-in-law I am still praying for you. I will miss my sweet Brother-in-law. I love you! You're Sweet Elsa
Mr. Griffin: you were a wonderful friend, teacher and beautiful soul.
Mr. Griffin was the head of the English Department (and librarian) at Boswell High School when I was a young and very impressionable but enthusiastic teacher. I will never forget the confidence and faith he showed in me as a teacher...and seeing him in the library each morning just brightened my day! His standards, his love for the profession, and his obvious joy in life helped to make me a better person as well as teacher. I have often thought of him over the years after I left Boswell...Rest well, Mr. Griffin...and thank you.
