I was honored to work some of Doyle's shows he was an amazing human being as well as his wife & family ~ he is missed & his music keeps him alive, bless you all that loved him so very much he was an amazing artist musician & human being.
I saw Doyle in my hometown of Lafayette, LA performing with his friend CC Adcock at a Louisiana Crossroads performance and was completely swept away. I had a 2nd opportunity to see him at the legendary Grant Street Dancehall a few months after the forementioned performance. I had followed Doyle's music both online and through cd's after learning of him several years ago through his collaboration with SRV. Definetly one of the GREATS! Glad I had the chance to see him live.
I never thought I would be saying goodbye to you. I will miss you signing my tee shirt, which I will treasure forever. You and Barbara were so kind to me and welcomed me as a friend the first time I met you in 2001. You will always be in my heart and I will miss you so very much.
It seems as though we have lost so many of the "greats" that made Austin a World famous venue for musicians everywhere. Doyle Sr. will be missed though always remembered by those of us that love Austin and the magical feel that is Austin. Doyle should have a statue along side Stevie Ray, in a way that would show them reflecting on how cool Austin used to be before all the outsiders moved into the high rise condo's and started complaining about the "noise" that used to be loved by one and all. Clifford is most likely introcing a new member to the Heavanly Blues Band..gonna be some good sounds tonight! RIP Doyle.
To Doyles' family:
I know that words are just not enough at a time like this, but still, I had to drop a line to you.
it has been decades since I have seen Doyle Sr. We used to have some great times as teenagers in Irving long before he became the great vocalist singer.
But even then, for a "white guy", he was totally mind blowing when he sang! Soul for days in that voice!
He receive me as a friend though I am 20 times darker in color, it did not matter to Doyle in those days.
It is interesting to read in all the reviews, but the one thing that stands out, is about him being kind and gentle.
How often does anyone read such words today? But that was Doyle to me. Even after all these decades, the one dominant thing I remember of him: GENTLE AND KIND.
My prayers are with you.
Former Lead Singer of the Dallas/Austin band BLACKBIRD, with SRV. Christian-Charles de Plicque. Living for 40 years in the Artic Circle.
I came to know Doyle Sr.'s music thru Doyle II's -- I'm just another fan, but please accept my condolences. An inexpressible loss for your family, meanwhile both of these men have touched so many of us and helped us bear our own losses and heartbreak. Peace to you all.
Two "old" friends want you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

To all of Doyle's family, my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Doyle made this world a better place. His voice and music will live forever. RIP
To Doyle's family I am sorry for your loss. Doyle was a great man. I was fortunate to meet him after a show at the "Taste of Minnesota" July 2, 1994. We had a great conversation. The show was excellent, I feel blessed that I was able to see one of his performances. Doyle you will be missed, God Bless!
To all of Doyle's family...My heartfelt condolences for your loss. I consider myself fortunate to have had the chance to work with Doyle a few times--and each time was made all that more special
because of his calm demeanor, and righteous vibe. RIP.
To Big Doyle's family, relatives and friends. Thank you for sharing Doyle with all of us while he was on this earth, what a gifted musician. I only met Doyle a couple of times, saw him play several, but was always amazed at how gentle and kind of a man he was. There is no doubt his musical talents rubbed off on many, lets hope his kindness does as well.
You will be sorely missed on earth but welcomed with open arms in heaven.
Peace to all who were close to Doyle.
Thanks for all your music and may you continue your journey with your pal, Stevie Ray. Peace be with you, Doyle.

May You rest in peace my Brother! Mark and Kim Hickman
I first heard Doyle in 1969. We both grew up in Irving, TX. He, even then, was a great musician. May he RIP. My prayers & love to the family. Doyle Jr. sang a wonderful song at his aunt's funeral, I hope he does the same for his dad.
One of the greatest tones in blues singing. One of the biggest influnces on how you should sing the blues. I remember my son singing (Too sorry for you) at age 4. RIP Doyle, you will be truly missed Daniel Escalon (Houston Texas)
A great blues icon has left us to make heavenly music that my Cal Pratt can join in once more. We loved Doyle and treasure those good times seeing him play.
He made us smile and dance. Thank you, Doyle.
I didn't know him personally, but loved his music. My prayers go out to the family.
I remember like it was yesterday visiting the Bramhall home in Irving to listen to Ronnie play blues and jazz records. We were classmates and about 17-18 at the time. Doyle would have been 12-13 so I know his big brother was a great influence on him and his success. Our family will pray for your family during this time of such a loss.
RIP Doyle Sr, from a friend that knew Dale & Doyle going back to Youth Baseball at the Irving River-bottoms, Bowie Jr High & Irving High. I can still hear Doyle singing Kansas City in 1967 on the Sanger Harris Parking lot winning the Battle of the Bands. Who knew this was a launching pad & Doyle's music would touch so many. A talent too large to be defined. We love you Brother and may DBII continue this legacy as he has done so well to date.
Deepest condolences to the Bramhall Family and may God offer you peace at this time of loss.
Rest well, Doyle. Those great days of music inspiration that came from the Beatles/Rolling Stones era during the 1963-1967 years at Irving High School can't be replaced. Lots of fine memories as we all searched for our futures. You and Frank Beard went on to play drums in Rock n' Roll and I went into radio to play Rock n' Roll records, never quite having enough money to buy a set of drums, but always admiring your and Frank's careers and playing a few of your songs along the way at KFJZ 1270. (www.larryshannon.com)
Sorry to hear of Doyle's passing. He co-wrote some of my all-time favorite songs. I still get choked up when I hear Stevie sing "Tightrope."
Fond memories when we were kids at Bowie Jr. High. Played on the State Champion Braves with Dale pitching and remember you pounding those drums for the Cobras in '63. I will miss you Doyle. To the family--my deepest sympathy.
TEXAS HAS LOST A TRUELY GREAT ARTIST
I HAD THE PLEASURE TO LISTEN TO HIS MUSIC IN DALLAS IN THE LATE 80'S /90'S THEN HE PLAYED IN CLEVELAND AND THE CROWD WENT NUTS I WAS SO HAPPY FOR HIM AND ROBIN SYLER IN WHICH THE DALLAS CROWD WAS A LITTLE LESS APPRECIATIVE BACK THEN
I met Doyle several times through the years when he played, and he was always so kind and humble. He even let my friend take a picture of the two of us at a concert in Minneapolis. To Doyle's family; I hope you can find comfort in your faith and knowing the joy he brought to so many others.
Bless you, Nadine
I first met Doyle when he played with the Millionaires at Tolberts Chili Parlor in Dallas in 1977 with Alex Napier and Robin Syler. You were great then and everytime after. I love you Doyle.
From the radio side your music & talents have entertained all of us since the 1960's, when I got my first job in radio. We all wish we could have seen & heard you some more. You will be missed by folks all over the world. We can still play & enjoy your music forever, and we will air a Tribute to you soon.
God Bless You & Your Family.
Austin Music Radio Austin,TX
My sincere condolence to the Bramhall family and to his many friends and fans. My late husband, guitarist Jack Morgan grow up with Doyle and SRV and spent many wonderful years playing with both of them. He is in a great band in heaven now.
Truly a great guy and a great friend when we were young.RIP

God Bless and be with you durring this time,I would rather be missing him than to have never known or heard the songs he wrote.
Barbara, Doyle II, Georgia. I am so sorry for your loss. I met Doyle in about 1977 in Houston. in the early ZZ Top days with Bill Hamm and Lone Wolf. He was living in Spring Branch. So talented even way back then. He was one of the sweetest guys I have ever known. Lost touch over the years, recently found each other on Facebook. He was happy with his life, his wife and very proud of his children. The world is a darker place without his light. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sara Jane Oakes
To Barbara and the family our hearts and prayers are with you. Thinking of Doyle several words come to mind. Among them, Humble, Loving, Passionate and Patience. I consider it one of God's Greatest Blessings to have been able to share some life experiences with Doyle and friends the past few years. His example and zest for life made and will continue to make such a positive difference in my life and in turn, those I love. Thank You Doyle...you are missed
My heartfelt condolences to the Bramhall family. He was loved by so many that had the honor to cross paths with him. He was my friend and I will never meet anyone like Doyle again in my life. He was genuine and true. God bless all of us grieving, God bless Doyle.
Didn't know the man that well personaly, but i liked what I knew.Class act.
My deepest condolences to Barbara and the Bramhall family. I met Doyle when we were 16, playing at LouAnn's in Dallas. He was the first great singer I ever heard live. Whenever I ran into him in the following decades he was so warm, open as a book, and genuinely happy to stop & chat for a minute with an old friend. Thanks for the music, Doyle. Thanks for the friendship. Rest well.
My deepest sympathy goes out to the Bramhall family for their loss. His music influenced many people of all ages and social classes. Although I never met him personally, his music and interviews always reminded me that life is full of ups and downs, even for the greatest talents, and we are all human, no matter what our station in life may be... God Bless you
When I first heard Doyle Bramhall's music, I loved it. I wasn't surprised to learn that he had been a big influence on SRV, but something about his music was so calm and centered, so knowing. When I read a little about his life journey, it all made sense. He didn't need to be famous or recognized, he knew who he was, he made wonderful music and was obviously a wonderful person, by reading all of these posts. He is gone too soon, but he left a wonderful legacy of music, family, love and friendship. One can't ask for more in this earthly existence. My deepest sympathies to the Bramhall family.
Doyal, My deepest sympathy to Barbara and your family. I was truly Blessed that we crossed paths on this journey! From the first time I met you in 1971 when you played with the Storm. I use to always request you to sing, Stormy Monday, and you always did. What a wonderful world this would be if there were more like you. God Bless and RIP my dear friend.
I don't know exactly what to say.
Maybe I'll just listen to "Is It News".
Love you Barbara.
When I moved from Texas to Oregon three months ago one of my main regrets was that I wouldn't get to see Doyle as much anymore.
Thank you Doyle for your music and our conversations, they were always interesting.
To all the Bramhall family my deepest sympathy.
When we heard the news Doyle had passed away our hearts were broken, our tears were flowing, the sadness we felt was overwhelming but our thoughts kept us thinking about the many wondreful things he accomplished in his life and then thinking about all the good things we hear other people saying about the kind of man he was Gentle, Caring, Honest, and Trustworthy. It was my great luck to hear Doyle sing "Georgia" with The Chessmen when they opened for Jimi Hendrix (approx 1966). Almost 30 something years later I met him in Brook Mays Music and we discovered we had the same color Gretsch drum set. What a great humble person he was!
I met Doyle in Ft. Worth in 1982 and we bacame fast friends. Saw him in San Antonio last fall- we had a long good visit. He was a kind, humble man- a true music genius- I am very saddened by this.
You gave the world your gifts, a perfect contribution.
Always remember the time I ran into you in New Orleans.
So long my friend, thank you for sharing your gifts with the world, we are eternally grateful and inspired
Another verse of a sadder, slower song...
Doyle will be remembered in the history of the Blues in Texas
Remembrance...my friend Dennis and I (Dennis was a personal friend of Doyle's) were attending a concert by CC Adcock in St. Louis, with Doyle on drums. Pre-concert, band is setting up, Doyle's working on his drums, Dennis and I are hanging out in front of the stage passing time. We hear a shout from the stage, we turn around, and there's Doyle standing behind his drums with a camera taking our (well, Dennis') picture. That was a very nice experience, one which I'm sure Dennis remembers fondly.
Lee H. (St. Louis area)

I was shocked and sadden when a friend told me of Doyle's passing. I saw him this past April at the FTW Main Street Arts Fest, sounding great and having fun. When I think of Texas Music legends, he is listed, along with his friends SRV and Stephen Bruton. To quote a line from a Raul Malo song...:One more angel is up in heaven now, heaven now, up and looking down"
I will miss seeing his name as a music headliner, and that feeling of excitement anxiously awaiting the show.

THE BEST!! GOD BLESS HIS SOUL!
Thank you for the music, and all the great advice you gave freely about being in this business of music. I will miss you. Tell Poodie and Clifford and Stevie hi for us... My prayers go out to your family.
Doyle was the nicest person I've ever known in the blues world. Superbly creative songwriter, singer, drummer and all the years I knew him, since 1994 with 'Bird Nest,' a beautiful, kind, caring human being, much like Clifford Antone.
It was a great honor to have him on my radio show at Rutgers in New Brunswick, NJ in early December, 2006. He and Barbara took the train out from Manhattan, and he saw the beauty in the semi-industrial landscape that makes up northern NJ, as well as the more pastoral, rural looking parts of central NJ. He commented on the "pretty" scenery when he got off the train and it made me laugh, 'cause it kinda looks like Beaumont. This is a huge loss for the world of blues in the U.S. and around the world.

Thank you for touching my life with your music!
More importantly (for me, anyway), during the few times we met, your genuine spirit, humanity, openness, friendship, and encouragement to follow my dreams and have faith in things eventually working out the way they are supposed to has stayed with me all these years. You told me, "You'll get there!"
Closer now than ever before to realizing that dream of mine that you so encouraged is bittersweet with the knowledge that you're no longer here to receive that postcard you asked me for when I send it.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family, kind soul! ?
