Capt Crow was one of my favorite Transport Aircraft Commanders at VR-53. He always ensured the crew was taken care of. If not, he told the billeting officer, "We are going off station, stamp their orders". Fair winds and following seas Captain. Tim Tannheimer, Flight Engineer, VR-53
Greg and I send our deepest condolences to the entire Crow family. Lew will be missed by all who know him.
we are so sorry to hear that capt. crow had passed away. he was a lont time member of the vr navy community. he really had a wonderful personality. he kept all of us laughing during his meetings. we will miss his speeches at our annual vr reunions.
I was on a Navy flight with then Commander Crow in the early 80's and we were flying into Lajes, Portugal in a very bad storm with terrible cross wind conditions. During the approach for landing, he came on the PA and said this, "You all hang on back there because you have a better view of the center line than I do". We made it safely on deck due to his exceptional piloting skills. He was a great guy and I thought the world of him.
