Dear Ted, Tim and Ben,
I am so sad to learn of Madeline's passing. What a wonderful lady and friend she was to me and so many others. I think of her often when I sit down at the computer as she is the one who tutored me through doing the first newsletters for Walker. It was the beginning of many fun collaborations that Madeline and I would do together. And always working with Madeline was a joy and filled with laughter. She was bright, creative and giving as she always brought the best out in people. She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
My deepest condolences to the Samples family. I only knew Madeline for a short time from art school, but am glad that I did. She was a very kind woman, a talented artist, and had a wonderful sense of humor. I enjoyed talking with her at school about art techniques and artists. She will be very missed.
We will keep you and your family in our hearts.

Dear Ted, Tim and Ben and family,
I am deeply sorry for your loss and will keep you all in my prayers. I first met Madeline at UCSD in 1976 when she was a computer science student. Madeline was one of only 4 women computer science graduates in her class, which was a significant achievement in those days. She was always dedicated and undaunted in her pursuit of her degree. But what she was particularly known for was her ability to cheer her fellow students in laughter, show insightful concern for others, and encourage all to success. She surely has been your inspiration over these past years and will be very much missed. Be assured that she is still looking toward you with love from Heaven! God bless you!

I got to know Madeline when I "worked" with her on a huge project at the Walker School. It wasn't work though because everything Madeline organized was pure fun. She was funny, kind, creative and we all wanted to do our best for her. Some sparkle has gone out of the world now that she is not here with us. Ted, Tim and Ben, God bless you and heal you though I know you will always wish she were here.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Madeline and Ted through their seach with helping their parents find a good place to live in their retirement. Madline's caring spirit and generous heart was evident in the great care she took making sure her family was happy and doing well. She would light up the room with her smile and kind words. Her kindness was an inspiration in how to treat others.
Madeline had a passion for painting and she made lively and colorful portraits that were gifts to her family and friends. Words like generous, loving, intelligent, beautiful and funny fall short to describe her enormous spirit. She'll be greatly missed.
I always looked forward to hearing Madeline's insightful observations at our monthly book club meetings. I've enjoyed discussing books and life with her. She will be missed.
