I was sad to learn of the death of one of Fort Worths finest citizens. We used to live next door and when my black lab Gretta escaped we could always find her at the Bass' with a full tummy, thanks to Perry. All of us owe a lot to him, not the least of which is the legacy of his sons. A fine family as well, my warmest thoughts are with you.
I express my condolences for Mr. Bass and family. As a soldier of the military, he will always be remembered for his outstanding services while being in the Armed Forces. I present him with my flag for aiding the U.S to becoming a grateful nation. As a military vet/business owner I salute the Bass family with a 21 gun salute and the playing of the taps.
Father's Day is coming and it will likely be difficult. My first without my Dad was very much so. I have observed the family and their friends for some years now. You speak well of him by your actions, people will remember him through you. God be with you.
Thanks to Perry Bass and his family for everything they have done to make Ft. Worth the wonderful city it is today. It has been a pleasure watching it unfold. I love enjoying the fruits of their efforts. A marvelous legacy!
My condolences and heart felt sympathy goes out to the entire Bass Family. It was a pleasure and a joy for me to take care of your wife Nancy Lee and you for the short period of time that I did. But it was your genorsity that both of you showed me that touchd me deeply. Thank you for everything. May God be with you and your family.
As I read the many entries in this guest book, it is quite evident that Mr. Bass touched many lives in a very positive manner.
I have worked for Mr. Bass and his family several times throughout the past twenty years. Those times involving Mr. Bass personally, it readily became quite clear that he was not only passionate, but compassionate and a man of integrity.
He has helped to provide Ft. Worth with a new direction. Not only one of "where the west begins", but a leader in the progression of where Ft. Worth's future is headed.
He will be missed not only by his beloved family, but those whose lives he touched both directly and indirectly. His legacy will be permanently embedded in our community.
Thank you and God bless you Mr. Bass for all you have given. God bless the Bass family as they deal with their great loss.
The pleasure was all mine in meeting such a humble person. Thank you for the brief moments of shaking your hand each year. You've accomplished so much and have left a legacy that will last decades. I will always remember you.

Many years ago while at the home of a Bass brother, I observed Perry Bass casting his fly rod across the reflection pond at the residence. He greeted me and I asked him what kind of luck he was having. He smiled and said he wasn't fishing but practicing. He then began teaching me how to cast and whip the fly rod line to his targeted areas. I spent about 30 minutes with him and will never forget what he taught me or forget the happy look in his eyes as he was sharing his love of fly fishing.
My late husband was blessed to work for this wonderful man and family. Kyle and I are lucky to have know such a giving and caring person. He will be greatly missed.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
Ruth Ann Mahaffey (author)
May it comfort you to know that he will always be with you in your thoughts and memories
When good men die, their goodness does not. Please accept my sympathy and hope that his influence will continue to strengthen you during this difficult time.
Perry Bass was a man full of charisma, intelligence and strength. He could create a tempest if he was upset but the calm after the storm was bright with his openness, his generosity of spirit, and his humor. He loved to brag on his sons, cherished and respected those who worked for him and was devoted to fishing in an almost sinful way. His loyalty to Fort Worth was legendary, but he was at home everywhere he went on this planet. Being a gentleman in manners and countenance is not something much valued these days, but Perry was a true gentleman. He respected work well done even in the smallest task. He had the dignity befitting his station in life and at the same time was kind, warm and fun to be with. Personally, I will never forget his wisdom and benevolence. For all of us who have been lucky enough to have been touched by Perry it is a sad day. But we are fortunate enough to know that our lives were touched by a singularly beautiful man.
Fort Worth was honored to have such a caring and giving man. He will be greatly missed.
We can't know why some things happen...but we can know that love and beautiful memories outlast the pain of grief. And we can know that there's a place inside the heart where love lives always...and where nothing beautiful can ever be forgotten. If I've learned anything down through the years, it's that nothing beautiful in this world is ever really lost. Those we cherish will always live on in memory.
It's was fun to watch him do the impossible.
Rarely does a man touch the lives of people that he never met except for in the case of men like Perry Bass. My thoughts and prayers extend to those who knew him best and those whose lives he has touched.
Perry Richardson Bass loved Ft. Worth. I didn't know Mr. Bass personally, but as a life-long resident I am aware of the positive impact his family has had on our GREAT city. We have all been blessed by the generosity of this man and his family.
