I worked with Bob at Mosites. He was a good man and will be missed. God Bless
Bob's neighbor, Maurice Oaks and I discussed over a year's time and decided Bob Shanklin would be good on the city couoncil. He was away visiting his seriously ill brother in Indiana, and I called him and discussed his running for council, and he agreed. I got a packet from the city secretary, overnighted it to him, he filled it out, and overnighted it back to me, and I turned it in to the city secretary. Therefore, I was instrumental in getting him on the city council, where he served with honor for 12 years, 1995 to 2007.
"The Eagle has Flown!" My Dear Friend of nearly 50 years, I will miss you very much. With your leadership Forest Hill now has a beautiful Memorial Park. I am so glad we had you as our Leader. You have faithfully led us through to the completion. Every time we see it we will remember what a joy we had planning it together. You will alwys be in our hearts .
Bob stood tall as a member of "The Greatest Generation" He was unwavering in his support and dedication to God and our country. . We were mighty email warriors or paper debaters. Bob's strong visions on what was the best way for America to move forward at times were different form my equally strong beliefs. However when we occasionally met face to face he warmly greeted me and we shared our common outlooks on life. His concern for the welfare of me and everyone was sincere and genuine. I will miss my regular email contacts with Bob. He was an exceptionally good man to know.
The city of Forest Hill Lost a Good man & we Lost a friend. GOD BLESS.
