Rip Walter that was my friend
Walter was a gem among all the other stones. He always knew who you were and always made you smile with his larger than life personality! I enjoyed the chances I had to work with and enjoy him.
Please post on our family online memorial for Walter. Waltermcconnell.last-memories.com.
My heart and prayers go out to the family in this time of loss. It was a joy to work with Walter! Got some good memories!
I'm so sorry to hear this. Walter was such a wonderful man. I so enjoyed spending time with the both of you. He could always put a smile on your face no matter how bad a day you were having My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May God hold you strong during this difficult time.
Like it was stated earlier he was a good man to have in your corner. When I was assigned to the dive team we would be on calls it didn't matter the time. He would show up and say to us " I haven't heard any radio traffic from y'all I just thought I'd check up" he always cared, and took the time to show it. My sincere condolences, Rick Cruz.
I was shocked and saddened to here of Walters's death. I will miss his warmth and humor. His visits to our Jefferson Parish Auctions were always a treat. Walter was a true friend and I guess you say, we had a Louisiana Connection. It is difficult to know what to do in times like these. I want you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Our thoughts and prayers to the McConnell family. We have known Walter & Nancy for a long time. My dad work with him on the FWFD and remodeling houses many, many years ago.I know Walter and Wayne are to gather in Haven laughing and telling fire stories. The Joe Wier Family
Brother Les, My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I have a great amount of respect for your dad. You family is in my thoughts and prayers.
Walter was one of the dearest friends we have. He was an endless source of good humor, easy laughter, and boundless generosity. You could count on him to be in your corner when things got tough. He was the hardest working, most congenial, most fearless co-worker we ever had. Everyone loved Walter, and he returned that love. We will all miss him so much.
There are lots of good folks in Heaven welcoming his arrival.
Walter was such a joy to all of us from Lone Star Auctioneers who had the opportunity to work with him. He was a true friend to each of us who knew him. We will miss him more than words can express, but his memory is dear and will not be forgotten by those of us who had the joy of working with him. Our condolences to Nancy, Jill, Leslie and their families.
We are all going to miss our Uncle Mac dearly.I know his presence in heaven will be met with the same joy and love that was met here on earth. He was such a great man.
Proud to have known him and he will be missed.

The Fort Worth Fire Department would like to offer its sincere condolences to the McConnell family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of bereavement.
What great memories I have of the Cottondale Flash. When we worked together years ago at Sation 11, he was always a happy person to be around, except perhaps when he wrecked the District Chief Car with Chief Harvey in it.....LOL His life was a bit unhappy for a day or so, but I laugh at the memories I have of our time working there. One of my favorite people on the job.
Walter was a fine man. Your family is in my prayers. Maximum Respect....
