Jean was born Sept. 15, 1921, to Samuel Gilbert and Ione Brewster Ward in Fort Worth. Jean grew up in Fort Worth, where she attended Paschal High School. She then attended Texas Christian University where she met and married the love of her life, Woodrow Adams. After several years, Jean and Woodrow settled in Midland where she lived until 2008. From 2008 to 2012 Jean lived in Stephenville to be close to her son and family. She loved life, people, and valued her family above all else. Jean was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Midland where she was an active member of her Sunday school class. For many years, Jean was a volunteer at the Immunization Clinic of the Midland Health Department. She was also active in her Study Club, Book Club, Sewing Club, 20th Century Woman's Club League and a member of the Ranchland Hills Country Club. Jean was an avid bird watcher and lover of all flowers, but her passion was her family to whom she was devoted. She was a radiant Christian woman and will always be remembered as a loving and blessed wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to all who knew and loved her. Jean's love is all around us and we thank God for her life and legacy of love. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmer Woodrow Adams, and loving son, Gary Lee Adams. Survivors: Her loving son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Peggy Adams. She is also survived by her precious five granddaughters, Terri and Amy Adams of Midland and their parents, Anne and Larry Kelso, Allison and her husband, Tony Ballinger, of Morgan Mill, Hayden and her husband, John Kimberlin, of Millsap, and Dr. Lauren Adams of Morgan Mill. Jean was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Lane, Carson and Henley Ballinger, and London Kimberlin; as well as her loving sister, Elaine Shaw and husband, Robert. There are many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who will miss Jean Hayden as well.

Sam,Peggy,Terri,Amy, Allison, Hayden and Lauren, my prayers are with each of you as you grieve the loss of one of the most wonderful people I have been honored to know. I have such wonderful memories of delivering Jean and Woody's mail on Apperson. Jean and I became fast friends as we shared stories about our families. Mrs. Jean loved each of you and shared many stories with me. Jean was first a beautiful Christian woman, she shared her love of Jesus Christ with everyone she met. And of course she loved her family, eagerly sharing stories about each of you. I praise God that HE honored me with knowing Mrs. Jean. I will see her again because we have a promise of eternal life.
