John Barricks Obituary

John E. Barricks, also known as "Boozefighter Virginia," 62, left us to be with his brothers in chapter one on Thursday, June 9, 2011. Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 20, at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel with burial following in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday June 19, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. John was kind and trustworthy by nature, but a more stubborn man you will never meet again. He loved his family and friends with a passion; he was free spirited and loved hard. Survivors: He is survived by his companion, Marie Neely; children, Jonelle Barricks, Joshua Barricks, Jon Greever, Dawn Greever and Shawn Greever; grandchildren, Jordan, James, Dalton, Nicholas and Alex; brother, Wayne Barricks; sister, Shelby Martin; special niece, Amanda Samuels; along with his brothers, "The Boozefighters," and a host of other family and friends at "the office."

I still can't think about you without getting weepy (still your crybaby).Who is going to call and keep me updated with the boozefighters? Who is going to take me to Red Lobster when they come home to visit? Who am I going to call when Joey and Josh need help or advice? Who am I going to call when I need a pep talk or cheering up? Had I known what was coming I would have stayed when you ask me to. None of us knows the future, but I know I will love and miss you for the rest of my life no matter how short or long it is. Someday I will see you again and maybe I won"t mind riding behind you instead of beside you. Rest peacefully....you have earned it!

JoJo wanted funny stories...here goes..on a trip to visit Mom and John in Texas, Cathy (who had picked me up)stopped by radio shack where John was being questioned by police...seems the radio he brought was stolen (from that radio shack)..Couldn't resist asking him if maybe he needed to weed his friend garden if that's the kinda friends he was growing...He took it all in stride. Wish I could be there.

Jonelle, I'm so sorry to hear about your father. He suffered a long time & is now finally at rest. You were a truly devoted daughter, even when you butted heads, and I will be keeping you and your family in my prayers during this difficult time. I was proud to have you as a next door neighbor, and even more blessed to still have you as a friend. Take care, sweetheart. Love and hugs, Chrisanna. Xoxo
