I have been remembering how much my late husband, Jim Thurmond, admired John Hassler. He spoke of him often and I want you to know of his appreciation of his work with Jim. Lucy, I know of your loss and will keep remembering you in my prayers. Nancy Thurmond, Fort Worth

I will always remember Mr. Hassler as a kind, gentle man who was a great neighbor on the street that I grew up on. I am very sorry to have missed out on attending the services to memorialize his life, and my heart goes out to Mrs. Hassler, Stephanie and Ken during this very difficult time.

I enjoyed the honor to keep company with a friend, at the funeral home, when he traveled to visit with the Hassler family last evening. There, after meeting and visiting with another mutual friend to the dearly departed man, my friend kindly introduced me to the late man's widow, with whom he'd only spoken previously and was also just meeting face-to-face for the first time. We also spoke Mr. Hassler's surviving son. Sadly, we did not speak with his dear daughter before departing from there; though I feel pleased that, shortly after our arrival, I observed her demonstrating to another visitor the landing gear show-piece, which was on display in fond memory of its inventor. What a peaceful and pleasant family in their time of sorrow! ~M. Kiser, friend to James Williams

A dear and kind man whose friendship was one of life's priceless gifts. May I offer my thoughts and blessings to John's family. God bless them.
