My eight years with the Office of the Judge Advocate in Heidelberg were made so much more memorable by Bob's wonderful personality, his intellect, his experience, and his caring for those who worked with and for him. His contributions to the Army, to German-American relations, and to the professional development of those like me who learned so much from him are incalculable. I will miss him.
LTC Mark Welton , USA Ret.

Bob's extraordinary experience and intellect were matched by a generosity of spirit that he offered in equal measure to everyone with whom he worked or met. He gave as much - or more - time and gentle help to me as a newly minted judge advocate captain and Corps Chief of International Affairs in the 1970's as he would when the Corps Staff Judge Advocate I became called on him fourteen years later. It is no exaggeration at all to say that he will be missed by legions of us who had the rare honor to know and learn from him.

Colonel Cal Lederer, USA Ret.
