Terry Lee Sellers, 64, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, in Costa Rica. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in the chapel of Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Memorials: You may honor his memory with a donation to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation or the National Children's Alliance. Terry had been a Hurst resident since 1960, where he became a volunteer fireman at 17 and joined the department in 1968. He had never wanted to do anything else and held the rank of lieutenant until his retirement. He also owned a haz mat business for many years before selling out and establishing a residence in Costa Rica. Terry will be terribly missed by his family and friends; he was an incredible son and brother, mischievous, funny and fiercely protective. He was kind and loyal, sometimes to a fault. Terry made lifelong friendships from every walk of life. While in Costa Rica, he bought bags of dog food to feed the strays, shoes for those without and lunch for anyone needing a meal. He forged strong friendships with some very loving people that can never be repaid for their kindness to him and his family through his illness and passing. Survivors: His mother, Hellen Sellers Hodges and her husband, Wiley; brother, Bill Sellers and his wife, Dee; sister, Gwen Sellers Albee and her husband, Keith; nieces, Jennie Sellers and Jana Sellers Munford and her husband, Gary; nephews, Keith Jr. and his wife, Rayla, and Kris Albee and his wife, Kim; great-nieces, Brooke, Jordyn, Jessica and Kayligh; and great-nephews, Josh and Kane.

Terry and my late husband, Bob Murray, worked on the same shift at the Hurst FD. My kids and I will always remember what a great, funny, caring person he was. My husband considered him a close friend as well as a coworker. RIP, Terry! You will be missed so much by so many.

Terry was a very giving person. Years ago he came over with a 7 week old Sheltie puppy for the kids. Terry was a good friend of my husband, Bob Keeble, and after Bob passed away, and before Terry moved to Costa Rico, he would come by at Christmas and bring us a ham and silver dollars for our children and grandchildren. God Bless you Terry and RIP.

I still remember to this day when I was 4 years old and my parents took me to see Terry at the Hurst Fire Station and he took me for my very first ride in the NEW ladder truck and he also took me up in the bucket as well. And now i get to do that for a living too just like he did!
