I am very sadden to hear about the loss of Judge/Mayor/visionary Tom Vandergriff. My deceased husband, Gainor Lindsey and I were involved in the early days (70's on with the Council/Chamber, etc. I remember when the homeowners along Forest Edge were fighting to not have the street widened. Being a hands on Mayor, he knocked on our door one afternoon right after lunch to talk to us about the street. This was probably the most embarassing day of my life as we were in the mist of remodeling and my friend and I were macramaing wall hangings. So the house looked like the Clampetts. He was so gracious and blind, but I often wondered what the mental pictures were in his mind when he and Gainor were together in meetings. A treasured moment was when he came to Gainor's funeral and I know his family will treasure the friends who loved him and respected him. For he was definetly one of a wonderful kind. God Bless you the family and treasure who he was. Pat Lindsey Hendrickx

A sadness looms in my heart with the loss of a gentle giant. Mr Vandergriff gave so much of himself to the city he loved but, he was also a loveable fatherly man who never missed the being the MC at the South Davis Talent Shows during the 1960's and Arlington High events too many to list. A big thank you to the family for sharing your father with the rest of us. He has received his heavenly crown! The Aday Family

There are generations of us who remember the golden voice at the microphone. The Judge's velvet tones hold special places in the hearts of many a broadcaster. What an impact he had on us all. Gyna B.
