I knew Mike from our old Clintonville days and two years of law school at OSU. A terrific guy, dedicated attorney, an honest and highly respected public servant, family man and friend. His service in Tanzania as a member of the Peace Corps with Karen says so much about his character, compassion, and kindness toward all people of the world. Our politicians today could learn much about being a true professional public servant by modeling themselves after Mike. He had strong opinions on many subjects, but always showed a willingness to listen to other points of view. I had not seen Mike in many years, but he made a strong impression on me as a friend. His enduring spirit will be greatly missed. I will keep Mike and his family in my prayers. May he rest in peace.
Deepest condolences to the Schwarzwalder family and Sam especially. Michael was an active member of our pre-school and school community and extended his community service to helping me whenever I needed it. Thanks for all that you did for me Michael.
My good friend dedicated to justice, farewell with love,
We are sorry to learn of the passing of Michael, but grateful for his service to our nation as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Tanzania.

I was so very sorry to hear about Mike's death. I know what a great loss this must be for his family and want you to know that you have my deepest sympathy. We go back a very long time - I remember the dances at Whetstone Rose Park and when a young romance began. He will always be remembered.

I recall discovering in the Fifth Grade at Glenmont that someone else just loved to read, especially the World Book Encyclopedia. I thought if Mike or I didn't have the answer there wasn't one. Peace brother. See you up around the bend.

Mike and I played little league baseball together. I remember him well. I left Columbus after graduating from OSU and have been gone for many years. I was a North High Grad a year before Mike. I remember him well. He was a good man and a damn fine shortstop. I pray God's grace be with him.------steve

Mike was one of a kind...always fun to be around, and never shy or retiring...also fun to practice law with...if only we could have figured out how to also make money while we were having fun. Rich Fahey
An outstanding legislator, colleague and friend. He will be missed.
To Michael's Family, Michael was one of my favorite politicians of all time.I supported all the causes for which he fought and volunteered for him many, many hours. I shared friendships with several of his volunteers that lasted until they died.I am so sorry that now Michael, too, is gone.
Peace be unto you Polar Bear. You did your city and the world well. Proud of who you were and what you did.
