The Bachelors - what a great family, a Worthington cornerstone, not an institution. Clyde was the happiest man in town and his Home Market the happiest haunt. He reeled in Swampy Wright and anybody else who needed work or a helping hand. He had a swing at major league baseball and his gorgeous wife (Alma) a better shot at Hollywood, but they both decided to make Worthington their home market to bring up a great family...beginning way back when Morning, Evening, North and Dunlap (later South) were the defining streets of Worthington. What a legacy. One I'll never forget.
My thoughts and sympathy go to the Bachelors,. one of the cornerstones of dear olde Worthington. Clyde, the "smile" in his Home Market, unquestionably was the happiest man from North to South Streets (South was old Dunlap) and from Evening to Morning Streets, turned down a chance at a major league baseball career to run his Market and be a Worthington beacon, while his gorgeous wife gave up a shot at Hollywood. A truly brilliant family - Worthington Street lights before the incandescants.
Bachelors - what a great Worthington name. My father used to set up the bowling pins under the home market when he was a boy. We visit Worthington periodically and when walking through town, my father tells wonderful stories that include the Bachelors. And I remember going in the back where the butcher shop was.... and the fresh produce. I hated to see that store go..... We are thinking of you. Kris Kessler, Italy; Kaye Kessler, Colorado
