I was so shocked and sad. I hadn't seen Phyllis for many years, as I left OSUMC in 2000. What a great nurse and colleague. God be with you.

Dear Rachel and Donn, I am so sorry for your loss. What a loving, giving woman Phyllis was to all of us nurses at The James! She will be deeply missed! My thoughts and prayers are with you both!
Phyllis was the kindest and most generous person I have ever met. It is truly a loss for everyone she touched in her short but full life. My life was blessed by knowing Phyllis. Her spirit will remain with us forever. She will be watching OSU Football from heaven. Go Bucks!
I am sorry for your loss. Phyllis was a great person and coworker. She will live on forever in our hearts.
Phyllis was the epitamy of every nurse I I know. She was loved and will be missed by all.
My heart is heavy with sadness as I read everything here...bringing back a flood of memories. I remember Phyllis with great fondness and respect and how much darn fun she was to have around. I was a brand new ward clerk on her BMT unit back in 1981 where she welcomed and encouraged me...now 32 years later I still remember her as we were way back when. Throughout my years at OSUM and The James she was a great role model and friend and I know she will be greatly missed by me and all that had the privilege to have known her. My heartfelt condolences, Barbara Lukens Thomas (Marietta, GA)
Phyllis was my first nurse manager as a new graduate. I was very lucky to start my nursing career under such a wonderful mentor. I don't think I would still be an oncology nurse today if that wasn't the case, and now I can't envision doing anything else. She was truly inspiring in everything she did. R.I.P.
I was going to send a card to Donn and Rachael but this message will be enjoyed by more. I started work at The Ohio State University Hospital in 1977, and my preceptor was Phyllis.... what a nurse and friend she was!! She make sure I was the best nurse I could be and partied as good!!! So many memories of her apartment at The Fox and Hounds on Henderson and Kenny!!!! Oh... and the time we had to follow her home from the Christmas party in Delaware! She threw the shower for my 2nd son Christopher( and 20 yrs later his wife t worked for her as a nursing student and became an oncology RN at the James) . She was a mentor, friend, colleague and inspiration for 36 years. I have shed many a private tear since her diagnosis, selfish of me.. I love her and will always miss her. Donn and Rachael.. she was special!
Phyllis was a wonderful lady and Nurse. I learned so much about Oncology from her. Her love of life, work, family, and friends was so inspiring. Rest in peace beautiful lady. My Sympathy to Donn,Rachel, and Family.
Phyllis, You went to school with my brother, Will. I remember you being smart and pretty. God be with you and your family in these times. Thanks for the memories. Go Big Reds and Buckeyes!! R.I.P. You will never be forgotten.
Phyllis will be greatly missed. She was a wonderful mentor and an amazing spirit. Peace during this difficult time.
You will be the brightest light for all to see.
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
I am heartbroken~Phyllis was my first nurse who took care of me when I was diagnosed 33 yrs. ago. We became great friends and she encouraged me to join the ranks of OSUMC as an employee after being a volunteer for several years. She was with me when I gave birth to Michael and visited him almost daily and was his advocate during his cancer journey. . I know she fought until her final earthly breath and I am sure Michael was one of the first to greet her at the gates above. Blessing to Don and Rachel and Joan...she will be so missed..and never be forgotten. I love you Phyllis.
My heart felt sympathies to the Kaldor family and to all who loved and will miss Phyllis. She was a kind person and dedicated to OSU. You will be missed by many but never forgotten by all who knew you Phyllis.
Sincerely, Heide Maglott
I am so sorry. Phyllis was a wonderful leader. Kitty Shadbolt
My sincerest sympathies to Donn, Rachel, family and friends. As you know, Phyllis was an extraordinary person. As I remember her, the lyrics that Stephen Schwartz wrote in the Broadway musical "Wicked" come to mind: "Because I knew you, I have been changed for good". Sincerely, Joyce (Kubie)
Phyllis sent wide ripples out into the world. Her work will continue to improve the lives of people who never knew her long after these words are written. To all who cared about Phyllis, remember that not even death can sever the bonds of love.
Our deepest sympathy Donn, Rachel, Kaldor family, Joan and to all who loved Phyllis. Our memories will live forever as treasurers in our hearts. "How firm thy friendship
O HI O." Love Piedi, Biff, Ashley and Vanno
