Dear Moore Family,

I'm very sorry for your loss. I tried to contact Virgil via cellphone today and learned of his passing. He was such a help when I had questions on UST issues. I enjoyed working with him.

Sincerely,

Sharon, Taylor, and Kaylie I'm very sorry for your loss. I just found out yesterday in the Columbus Comets newsletter about Virgil passing away. It's a complete shock to me. I burst down crying when I read the newsletter and I'm crying right now too. I'm so sorry that I wasn't at the showing and the funeral. I would have been at the showing and the funeral if I would have found out about this sooner. Virgil was a great guy and he always had a smile on his face. State games won't be the same without him. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. I know how you are all feeling right now. Taylor and Kaylie I know exactly how you feel because my Dad has been gone almost 4 years ago. Sharon, Taylor, and Kaylie if you all need anything I will be there for all of you anytime night and day. My home phone number is 614-423-8778 and my cell phone number is 614-929-8280. You can call me anytime day or night. I'm here for all of you. I love all of you very much!

Sharon and family. I met Virgil when I got into the UST inspections for Grandview Heights in 1999. He was a rock for me and was always there to help me through difficult times. We used to talk about our families. He would tell me about a trip planned, or a trip taken and all of the things that happened that meant something to him. He was truly family oriented. Columbus Fire has lost a great firefighter. We will all miss him. May God be with you and your family through this difficult time. May His grace bless you with peace.

The first time I worked with Virgil we were doing an inspection at a festival. All the large tents were to be be marked as fire-resistant & we came across one that wasn't. I remember Virgil whipping out a lighter & saying, "well, I guess we'll have to find out"! He didn't actually do it but certainly got their attention! He was great to work with & sincerely cared about what he was doing. He will be missed by all in this department.

It was a shock to learn of the passing of Virgil and my deepest sympathy goes to Sharon and the entire Moore family. I had the Privilege and the Honor of working with Virgil on Red White and Boom and many other events and I was lucky enough to learn from him and had the highest respect for him as a colleague and a Friend. His smile and just the sheer out going personality made Virgil a beacon to every one who knew him. The City of Columbus as well as CFD have truly lost a Great Leader, Educator and Friend. Virgil you were taken way to soon but I truly believe that your memory and legacy will live on forever in all lives that you have touched. I will miss my friend and I am sure we will meet again one day and it will be a Great day. Rest easy my friend your work here is done.

I was saddened to hear of my friend and colleagues passing. Virgil was a Great man who always helpful and kind to all he met and worked with and as I came to know him my respect for him grew as I watched him use his knowledge and skills to be the leader and at times and to follow if needed. I saw the passion he had for his family and being the Rock in his family. I also have had the honor to work side by side with a Great man who had a passion for firefighting as well as educating the public and being a huge support for any and all who had met or worked with him. I do feel the the City of Columbus and CFD has truly lost a Great Man who in his own right was a Great Educator, Protector and the true back bone of Red White and Boom for Columbus Ohio. I had worked with Virgil many of times on shows and events at Veterans Memorial and I had learned so much from my friend and Virgil you were taken from your family and the people of CFD and the City of Columbus way to soon. Rest in Peace my friend your work here is done but your legacy with live on forever in every one who had know or had worked with you. We will meet again one day my friend and it will be a Great Day.
