I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know Joan. What a wonderful person she was, in so many ways. She enriched my life immeasurably and demonstrated so admirably numerous qualities to which I aspire. Amy and Marian, thank you for sharing your amazing mother and sister with me!

Sorry this took so long.. When Joan passed I talked with her for a brief moment.. Enough to say I miss you and sorry I didn't visit more.. She told me she understood , said " kiss kiss" and said now let me go.. So I did.. It took me a while to come to an understanding of what happened but I think the special relationship Joan and I had allowed that to happen.. We had a spiritual connection which allowed me to share many things with Joan.. Although I was just her caregiver.. She never forgot my daughters.. When they made her things, she made sure they knew she appreciated them.. I loved Joan's wit and she was a little feisty too! But none the less.. She was my SPECIAL FRIEND.. Anye' was so sad when I finally told her.. She had many pictures saved for you.. I love you Joan.. Also , Marian, thank you and I will always think of you and I love you as well..Amy, I will keep you in my thoughts always along with Rich and your beautiful daughter..

Joan was a wonderful, interesting friend who was as much fun as a woman as she was as a girl when we met at a Bradley dorm. Although I regret not
flying over the Grand Canyon at down (!!!) with the sisters Makstell, I will
remember other more secret adventures.
I can hear you laughing Joan.

Dear Marian, Amy and family

There isn't much I can add that hasn't already been said, except simply:

Joan: Thank you for showing us strength and courage in the face of unimaginable challenges and adversity. Thank you for always being there for others. Thank you for being who you were. And, thank you for passing our way on our journey.
We will miss you. God Bless, Bill Falke

Just heard about Joan last night and my heart is so sad today. I had the great privilege of working with Joan at 5/3 Bank. What an amazing lady who was kind and giving! Her compassion and openness was such a great thing to watch. Joan truly cared about people and always went above and beyond to aid them in their time of need. I always smiled and grew great inspiration from Joan over her eagerness to learn and be well versed on a variety of topics. I can see her vividly with a newspaper in hand, a smile and a twinkle in her eye. I won't forget conversations about news, politics and the latest discussion on NPR. I will remember fondly our rides home when my car broke down, trips to the thrift store to buy a suit, and her great friendship. It breaks my heart that we lost touch over the years and that Joan is no longer with us sharing her stories, but I am so grateful that I got know this woman who was so full of love. I will miss her and treasure all of those special memories I got to experience with her. Sending love to her family and friends who mourn with me this great loss!
