Many years ago, a dear friend lost his battle the same way that Mary did. He fought for so long, and then could take it no longer.
At the funeral, the minister stated these words, and I shall never forget them.
" I know what many of you will say that the Bible says, but I am here to tell you that mental illness is no different than cancer." At times, the cancer wins just as in this illness.
Those words were spoken more than 17 years ago, and they still play in my mind. Mary's illness could not be cured.
I pray for the children's hearts and hope in time, that they will be able to realize that this was not a choice but an illness that could not be cured.
