William "Bill" E. Johnston ,79, of Orient, OH, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2018. He was born on January 31, 1939 in Bexley, OH. to Carl and Anna Johnston. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Muriel Fairchild and her husband John; brothers-in-law John Brennan and Robert Bunch; and grandchildren Zackary Carter and Brandy Carter. Surviving family includes his wife of 33 years Marilyn (Carter) Johnston; children Jeffrey William (Connie)Johnston, Jill Carol Cantrell and Jennifer Ann (Jeff) Mackie; step-children Gary Allen Carter, Mark Anthony Carter and Kimberly Ann (Darrell) Bentley; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and special friends Frosty Eugene Johnston, Tater Bentley and Hope Carter. Bill graduated from Bexley High School in 1956. He retired from the Columbus Dispatch ten years ago. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 pm, Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. 43123. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to the American Heart Association.
