I have always been a huge fan of Don's. I was lucky enough to have hung out with him twice in 1983 in Humboldt. The first meeting was totally random when I was in a liquor store in the little town I lived in, McKinleyville, and as I'm leaving I heard a voice that I recognized buying some cigs. I turned around and sure enough it was Don. I told him what a big fan I was and the next thing I knew we're sitting in his car talking about how he and his wife Jan have seen Bigfoot and UFOs. And of course we talked about music and he was really going on about the blues and Sunnyland Slim. The next time was a few months later when a guy I was going to school with suggested we go pay him a visit at his house in Trinidad, which we did. He welcomed us with open arms and we talked for hours and I got my picture taken with him...he in his pajamas haha. I will miss you Don. Thanks for all the music and the many live shows I was able to see.
