Henkel, Jacqueline Marie
Jacqueline Marie Henkel. 73, of Sturgeon Bay, died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Ministry Door County Medical Center.
She was born, July 10, 1940, at the family home in Jacksonport, the daughter of Edward and Elsie (Johns) Stellwagon. Jacqueline attended school in Sevastopol and graduated with the Sevastopol High School class of 1958. On October 18, 1958, she married George John Henkel, Jr., at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Institute. He preceded her in death on August 14, 1991.
Initially, Jacqueline worked for her in-laws, George, Sr., and Olga Henkel, as a waitress at The Mill Supper Club and also at the Nightengale Supper Club before settling down and raising her family. Later, she worked at The Stein, Harbour Village, and also at the Alpine.
Jacqueline enjoyed camping and going to garage sales. Above all, she loved her family, taking care of her children and her grandchildren. She liked cheering on her son, George III, at the local stock car races.
Jacqueline will be deeply missed by her son, George III (Julie); daughter, Stacey (Kirk) Volkmann; special friend of 18 of years, Dennis Frea; grandchildren, Rebecca (fiancé, Josh Gunnlaugsson) and Gary Henkel, Ella, Kyle, and Kambria Volkmann, all of Sturgeon Bay; step-sister, Shirley Sexton of Milwaukee; and other friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Vasil Miner; and her husband, George, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday evening, June 30, 2014, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Jerry Groth officiating. Jacqueline will be laid to rest at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday morning, July 1, 2014, at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Institute.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service, Monday, at the funeral home.
