Mrs. Pearl B. Carson of Dothan, who resided in Calhoun, Ga., with her daughter, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006. She was 96.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, from Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan with the Rev. Bob Gross officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Dothan Building Fund.
Mrs. Carson was born in Murphy, N.C., on Sept. 10, 1909, and moved with her family to Georgia at an early age. She moved to Dothan with her husband, Homer Shannon Carson Jr., in 1964. In earlier years, Mrs. Carson was a homemaker. She and Mr. Carson were members of the First Baptist Church in Dothan for 40 years. The Carsons were noted for their service to the church and community. She was well known for her thoughtfulness and kind deeds of Christian service. A talented painter, she often gave hand-painted China to her family and friends. She was a volunteer worker with the Church hostess for many years.
Mr. Carson preceded her in death in 1988.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Fay and Fred Penick of Calhoun; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Shannon and Paula Carson of Asheville, N.C.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
