Susan Martinez Obituary

Susan Salazar Martinez May 18, 1917 - Nov. 7, 2013 Resident of Oakland Susan Martinez (Susie) was born in Tempe, Arizona. She graduated from Arizona State Teachers College, later to be Arizona State University. She met and married the late Pablo Martinez, they moved to Oakland to raise their family. She had a wealth of knowledge about many things, and her non-judgmental compassion for people was awe-inspiring. She had an amazing love and respect for plants and flowers. Her keen mentality and clarity of thought belied her age of 96 and a half years. She lived a positive life filled with strength, hope and grace. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann. She is survived by seven children, Pauline (Norbert), Joseph (Kerry), Robert (Eileen), Daniel (Sidney), Paul, Virginia (Doug) and Linda (Arnel). She was a loving grandmother to sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Fri., Nov. 15th, 11am, at Neighborhood Church (Chapel), 20600 John Drive, Castro Valley.

Love to all of my Martinez cousins and your families. You were fortunate to have such a lovely woman as a mother and we were fortunate to call her aunty. I whish you solace in this difficult time. Larry and I look forward to seeing you Friday.
