Happy trails, Uncle Bill.
You were an awesome reporting prof.

The Sass Family- I just heard about Bill's passing as I was corresponding with an Alumni from Western Oregon College in Monmouth, Oregon. I had the pleasure of knowing Bill from the time he moved to Salem, Oregon until we graduated from college in 1968. Bill and I shared a lot of laughs through high school and college and I enjoyed singing with him in both high school and college choirs as well as a folk song group that was started in our college dorm.

Very saddened to hear the news. I spent my last years at the Journal working closely with Bill, and couldn't have had a better colleague to share that time with. A fine journalist and an even finer person.

So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was a wonderful colleague, always fun, optimistic, curious and professional. Even after his health setbacks, he continued working and keeping busy and never complained. His was a life well lived.
