Ray and I send our sincere sympathy to you all. Doreen was the glue that always keep the extended family together. The reunions at Sylvan are so very memorable. I will always remember her wonderful laugh and gentle nature.

I was very sad to read about Mrs. Hughes' passing. I first met her when she was my Sunday School teacher, and she later became a close friend of my mother. She was the quinessential lady, always kind, generous and polite even to children. One typical memory I have of her is that she made a 10 year old girl feel grown up by introducing herself as "Doreen Hughes", rather than "Mrs. Hughes". She also had a wonderful dry sense of humour and keen intelligence. I will remember her always with the deepest affection.

We are thinking of you all and sending our condolences in the loss of Doreen. What a lovely person and a wonderful neighbor she was and I remember enjoying many happy times in her company her.

Dear Karen, Brian and Brent,
I was saddened to hear about your Mom. She was a generous, accepting, kind hearted and open woman. Qualities that were obviously loved into her children and I am certain, her grandchildren, and on down the line. How could it be otherwise? The good life she lived carries forward. My thoughts are with you all. Such a tender time. It's weird...I was just telling Paul on Halloween night about Mrs. Hughes' popcorn balls for the trick or treaters. With Love,

I used to work with Doreen at Ottewell Junior High School. She was a great lady. I remember when she got her B.A. What an accomplishment. Sorry about your loss. I often thought about her over the years, but lost contact with her after they sold their house.
